And at the airport, we met another Belizean athlete trying to make Belize proud. 21 year oldTrent Hardwick participated in an Olympic qualifier for sailing at the Last Chance Regatta in France.
He was competing for a spot in the Paris 2024 Olympics - and while he didn't get it - he told us the experience was invaluable:
Hardwick went to primary, high school and sixth form in Belize and started sailing with the Buttonwood Bay club when he was 7.
