posted (November 23, 2017)
And the police also bristled at the suggestion that they have not been doing enough to find missing 83 year old Hubert Richards. The Sandhill resident has been missing for a week now. Last night the family told 7News that they had not been getting assistance from police in their search.

Well, Superintendent Cowo said that it is the family who failed to make a missing persons report until yesterday - but even without that police have been doing searches since the 17th - when the missing case was first reported on social media:...

ASP Alejandro Cowo, O.C., C.I.B., Belize City
"We are aware that this information has been on social media from the date that he disappeared which was the 16th, Thursday last week. However, an official report was made to the police until yesterday at the Ladyville Police Station. But before we have received the report we have been following it up from other leads that we have been getting and we are assisting the family as much as we can at this moment."

"Yesterday, I was in the area because I had received information that he was sighted on Saturday in the Los Lagos area. As a result a team of police from Belize City and Ladyville went into Los Lagos and we conducted an extensive search behind a bushy area in Los Lagos. We were there with a family member; however, the search led to nothing. We spoke with people in the area and they said yes, they had seen the man there but that was Saturday early in the morning. Also, after we concluded from the search, we received information that the man was seen at the junction of Guinea Grass Village in the Orange Walk District. The information was relayed to Orange Walk police and Orange Walk police proceeded to that location and they did a search; however, they did not meet the person there. We had visited several other location to get footages. That is why we were narrowing in certain locations. We have footage that he was seen in Lord's Bank. That was Thursday and thereafter we got information that he went to Los Lagos that same Thursday and we confirmed that with other villagers and he went back there again on Saturday. That is the last sighting that he was seen."

"We have placed posters everywhere in the northern districts to see if we can locate this gentleman."

Reporter
"Is it known if he suffers from any mental conditions?"

ASP Alejandro Cowo
"I know that he came to the BDF to get his normal checkups and that was confirm that he was here. It's routine that he comes to Belize City almost every week, but apparently he is suffering from Alzheimer and apparently it is getting worse. He travels alone on the bus."

Police are asking the public if anyone has seen of knows the where about of Mr. Stanley Richards to kindly contact the nearest police station or call 911.
