Police Investigating Robinson’s Claims
posted (May 30, 2018)

We also asked Deputy Commissioner Williams about the case of Lincoln Robinson Jr.

You'll remember him from last night's newscast. He told 7News that officers from a specialized police unit set upon him in the early morning hours of Saturday, and they put a severe beating on him.

The extent of the brutality was captured in a photograph of his right eye, where his eyelid was almost completely torn off. He says that it was done by one of the officers who repeatedly kicked him in the face.

He's now recovering from eye surgery, and he says that he will press charges against the officers who did it to him. Williams told us today that the Professional Standards Branch has been tasked to investigate Robinson's complaint:

Daniel Ortiz
"Are you able to provide any details?"

DCP Chester Williams - Commander of Operations
"Yes, that matter was reported to us and I have referred the matter to the professional standard's branch, they are looking at the matter, it is being dealt with to see whether or not the allegations by Mr. Robinson is true and if it is true based by whatever action he request that will be our course of action."

Daniel Ortiz
"Sir the gentleman in his interview with us, he suggested that he feels as though these officers, that this beat down was intentional and the gentlemen actually mocked him saying go tell Chester as though they feel they can escape and get away with that they did."

DCP Chester Williams
"Unfortunately I'm not a mind reader, I cannot say what the officers were contemplating when they did that, if in fact they did that. So I will not be able to give a comment where that is concerned."

We'll keep following the story.
