Police Hand Over Alysson Major File to DPP
posted (July 19, 2019)
Police have sent the file for Alyson Major's killing to the DPP - and - sources tell us - charges could go forward as early as next week. While the DPP still has to make her decision, police have gathered substantial evidence - including security video from the area which shows a corporal leaning out of the chase vehicle and shooting at Alyson Major.

The Commissioner yesterday said that the use of lethal force was excessive and unjustified:

Chester Williams
"The truth is from what I have seen excessive force was used. We cannot run away from that. When we are in pursuit of any vehicle or persons, we must ensure that the force used is proportionate to whatever threat that is being faced. From what I have been briefed there was nothing to indicate Mr. Major poses any threat to the officers who were in pursuit."

We will keep following the case next week to see what, if any charges, the DPP will recommend.

Since the shooting, police have started to re-educate cops on their "use of force" policy.
