SOE Detainees Go Defiantly To Prison
posted (March 20, 2020)

And, it’s been a whirlwind of activity today for the police department.  They also took hundred plus detainees to prison.  That created quite a scene outside the Queen Street Police Station and 7News was there:…

It was very busy inside the compound at the Queen Street police station around 11:00 this morning.

Paramilitary police were there in numbers ad they processed detainees to be placed on the prison bus.  We saw the detainees brought out of the holding cell, searched and then directed to the bus.

For many of their families waiting on the outside. It was the first time seeing their relatives since the Southside state of emergency started.

Loading up the bus took about an hour and using a drone, police kept an eye on the crowd to make sure there were no troublemakers.

And, at close to 12:00, tear gas guns on the ready, police cleared the street and the school bus bus turned jail bus swung out - we heard frantic last words and last directions to their families - they would be gone till possibly May.

As we reported, under the State of Emergency provisions, those men are detained for 30 days in the first instance, within seven days they will be told the reason for their detention, after fourteen days a list of  their names will be published.  After a thirty-day period of detention, the government can go to the National Assembly to extend the detention for up to a year or more.
