Imagine you're five years old, and your little classmate, the one who you played with in the yard, the one you sang with, and learned to read with... is suddenly killed, shot dead in her sleep before dawn. And on Tuesday, she just isn't there at school - and she'll never be there again.‚ A young life snuffed out, erased, just like that.
As a kid, how do you even come to terms with that trauma, that loss?
Well, one way is, to keep her memory alive, to fight the demons of violence with your voice. To keep Kia's name alive.
And that's just what her classmates did this morning. I headed back to Unity Presbyterian and got to experience the school's touching and courageous tribute:
