Weekend Murder Mystery
posted (March 23, 2020)

So, while Police in Belize City are making headway with the murders from last week, investigators from Independence don’t know what to make yet of a weekend killing which occurred on the Southern Highway.

Police say that at around midday on Saturday, they were called to an area between miles 45 and 46 on the highway. That’s when they discovered the body of a Hispanic man. It appears that he was chopped several times and left for dead in that location. The officers did a bit of digging, and they were later able to identify the victim as Reydarius Sho, a resident of Bladden Village in the Toledo District.

They shared a bit more details at today’s press briefing:

Supt. Alejandro Cowo - OC, CIB Belize City
"On Saturday, just at about midday, Independence Police visited an area near the Swasey Bridge, located between miles 45 and 46 on the Southern Highway. In a drain, they observed the motionless body of a male person with apparent chop wounds to the body. The person was identified as that of Redarious Sho, 24-year-old Belizean of a Bladden Village address. What police gathered so far is that Mr. Sho had left the village early in the morning, and he went to Bella Vista to do some errands. Whilst at Bella Vista, he was seen socializing with a group of friends, and thereafter, he was found in that drain with the apparent chop wounds."

"What is the investigation showing so far as to what led to it?"

Supt. Alejandro Cowo
"The information that they believe that it is because of an ongoing dispute that happened some time ago in that same village, which involved Mr. Sho, as one of the persons."
