Boots, Kicking Up Dust
posted (March 25, 2020)

And, in other news.

Residents of the Port Loyola Area have been calling us saying that they have a COVID concern.  Their Area Representative Boots Martinez has been trucking in loads of clay off Faber's Road, and the dust storms raised by the dump trucks are causing sore throats and asthma attacks - an unwelcome hazard in a world preparing to fight the respiratory virus of immediate concern, COVID-19.

Martinez says the fill is a necessary move to rid the area of unsanitary conditions, stagnant water, and even killer bees, conditions that could have contributed to diseases such as Dengue and Malaria.

This morning  he told us that people complain whether you do something or nothing at all:

Works concerning the clearing of that particular tract of land continue, and Martinez says that residents are also complaining that the area, which is quite new, has fallen victim to criminal activities because of its need for streetlights. According to Martinez, it'll be up to him to ask the PM for the budget to light the area. Â
