Bus Schedules Being Discussed With Regulators
posted (March 25, 2020)

The Department of Transport is reporting tonight, that they are working with the bus operators to return some normalcy to public transportation for Belizeans workers who need to commute between districts to reach their job sites.

A press release note that the focus is to maintain uninterrupted but safe public transportation.

The restoration of bus runs will come with some changes. The Department notes that the workaround will have to remain flexible, depending on how the COVID-19 situation develops in Belize. As a result, the availability of bus runs could change without notice. Next, public transport will be limited to seated passengers only; no standees will be allowed.

The interior of all buses, including seats, metal and metal surfaces, such as handrails must be sanitized before departing each bus terminal along the route. All commuters and operators are advised to take extra precautions and all measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

The Department of Transport has produced an extensive bus schedule for public transportation countrywide. You can find that schedule on the Government Press Office's Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/149350998433745/posts/2792182540817231/.

The Transport Department is thanking bus operators who have willingly agreed to continue to provide this essential service to commuters during this critical time.
