Waiting, Waiting For Medical Supplies
posted (March 27, 2020)

Hopefully, by the time they are activated, a fresh run of supplies will be on hand.  Manzaero says that 6 respirators were supposed to arrive today - and that 20 more are on order. We’ve been hearing about those same 6 respirators for two weeks now, so that one is definitely a wait and see.

And what about other supplies that will be needed for the COVID war ahead?  What about personal protective equipment for healthcare workers?  Manzanero says it’s all on order:…

Dr. Marvin Manzanero - Director of Health Services
"We have 5 thousand individual test kits slated to come in, those are already paid for. 7,300 PPEs, those already paid for and they are on their way. The 6 initial ventilators are slated to arrive today. We have just signed on to a document to procure test tubes, which are materials used for the actual swabbing and blood samples that are needed to be taken for the study that we have undertaking but we just paid 93 thousand, in the process of paying 93,750 dollars for test tubes. For one source, we are paying 36,500 and from another source we're paying 312,600 dollars, this is for a total of 20 more ventilators. 6 X-Ray machines are scheduled to arrive, portable ones next week and I know that we getting two portable ultra sounds also for use in that regard."

Notably, some lab supplies that used to come from Guatemala are running scarce at the public lab, because that border is closed.
