Getting Behind The Story of Patient 23
posted (June 23, 2020)
Last night's headline story was the confirmation from the Director of Health Services that another person,#23, tested positive for the coronavirus in Belize.

The latest patient was among those 45 Belizean repatriates who came home on a United Flight from Houston last week Friday.

Today, the Director of Health Services, Dr. Marvin Manzanero, was the main guest on the Government Press Office's Ask the Experts Webcast. During his information sharing session, he briefly discussed patient #23, and what the Health Ministry knows so far about her:

Dr. Marvin Manzanero, Director of Health Services
"Today we have done 2,043 total test and that last batch that we completed yesterday had another positive case. That is a young female that came back from the U.S.A. on a flight on Friday. That brings our total to twenty three. Out of those we really can say we only have three active cases and one of those cases, we will have to find a way to classify it in our infographics because that person was deported to leave. That was done last week and we are anticipating that this week we will have out of those active cases two start to zero convert. So, the last batch we processed yesterday was forty-five samples. Not all of those were from the plane that arrived on Friday. Some of those samples will be run later on today."
