No Contact Sports Under New SOE Regs
posted (August 17, 2020)
Competitive sports, which involve body contact, have also been suspended for at least two weeks under these new SOE regulations.

The Attorney General says that this is being implemented for health reasons and that not all sports are being discouraged:

Hon. Michael Peyrefitte - Attorney General
"Competitive sporting events will no longer be allowed to take place. So, if you have a competition, a volleyball tournament, a basketball tournament, whatever, no tournaments [are] allowed at this stage. No recreational contact sports, football, basketball - you can't play those sports for the next 3 weeks or so. Volleyball will be allowed to practice, but only 3 on 3 because that's kind of like no so much of a contact sport, per-say. It's only the ball between the two sides, no more than 3 per side, and only for practice purposes, no competitive games. And, I guess there will be a question in this case now, as far as tennis is concerned, for example. Well, that is a non-contact sport. So, that will be allowed."
