CONCACAF Prez In Belize For 24 Hours
posted (May 8, 2023)
The newly elected president of CONCACAF - which is the governing body for football in North and Central America and the Caribbean - made his first visit to Belize today.

Victor Montagliani is on a 24 hour visit along with the president of UNCAF, which is the Central American Football Union. He had a press briefing at the House of Culture today - followed by a visit to the rebuilt Berger field.

Sergio Chuc, President - FFB
"These fine gentlemen have decided that they wanted to spend some of their time briefly here in Belize to show support to the football federation of Belize and to acknowledge the work that we have been doing here over the past couple years of my presidency."

Pedro Chalula, UNCAF President
"Sergio, we are looking forward to give this union stronger than ever working together with you with the support of CONCACAF and FIFA of course. Every time we come, we see things are developing and moving forward in Belize which is really good."

Victor Montagliani, President CONCACAF
"Talking to Sergio and the strategy that Sergio has already enrolled. I love to see that its about football first and really about being strategic about it, about infrastructure which is always important, but also investing through the various sources that we can invest through whether its FIFA or CONCACAF investing in the development at the coach's level, at the youth level - those are to me very important. Of course, we all know that the sexy part of the game is national teams and all that, but that will come and those excesses has to be built on by investing in the right areas. Belize now especially with Sergio at CONCACAF level in terms of the relevancy within the CONCACAF region has been heightened and that is very good for your country, that is very good for your football. In terms of CONCACAF support it will be unwavering, unconditional and relentless in terms of what needs to happen in Belize and Sergio knows that. Football is a marathon. Things don't happen overnight and sometimes I know that we want it to happen quicker than it is, but it takes years and it takes commitment and I know with you Sergio as the president and as a leader that that commitment is there to your country, to your football and to CONCACAF and I really appreciate that and I thank you and it's a real honour being in your beautiful country."

Montagliani has pledged to make a follow up visit to Belize.
