And the Minister of BelTraide Erwin Contreras was in the cross-border
village Arenal in his Cayo West area yesterday. Contreras broke ground for a
three classroom building at La Immaculada Roman Catholic School. It is intended
to ease some of the pressure that the students have been contending with as
classrooms presently have to be grouped in pairs – with some sessions
on the verandah and under trees.
Hon. Erwin Contreras, Cayo West Area Rep.
“The students use the verandah and under a big tree in the school
yard as additional space. This in my view is unacceptable, children need the
proper school environment and adequate classrooms. Children will have classrooms
that are more conducive to learning. The distractions of two teachers sharing
the same classroom space will be eliminated.”
The new two thousand square foot building will cost $245,000. It will
include a kitchen for a feeding programme. Ground was also broken for a new
building at Mopan Technical High in Benque Viejo. |
