just been reported to headquarters. It all unfolded around three thirty on Tuesday
evening on a feeder road just off the Northern Highway. According to the officer
in charge of Ladyville Sub Formation Inspector Calbert Flowers the police on

Further investigations revealed what?
Insp. Calbert Flowers,
“Our investigation revealed that there was a robbery in Sandhill just prior to the police intercepting this vehicle. In fact our head station received
the call of a robbery and we had dispatched a vehicle in the area but we had
a vehicle already doing patrols in the area when they intercepted this vehicle.
The proprietor of ‘All in One’ Supermarket in Sandhill reported
that sometime just after 3 pm, two male persons entered their place of business
and one of them pulled out a handgun, pointed it on her, and demanded money.
They proceeded to rob them of assorted telephone cards, some monies, and a Belize
Bank check. All these items were recovered from these persons in the vehicle.
They are presently in police custody pending charges for this robbery as
well as we are investigating some similar robberies in the past and previous
robberies we believe that they may be involved and they surely will be charged
for keeping an unlicensed firearm and ammunition without a license.”
The phone cards totalled to a value of $2,582. Included in the assortment
of cash police also discovered a Belize Bank cheque for one hundred and fifty
six dollars. The accused have been identified as twenty eight year old Oren
Humes, twenty four year old Harold Matrie, two sixteen year old minors and a
fifteen year old minor. All five persons are expected to be charged by tomorrow
and taken to court. |
