She lives in a village in the Toledo District, but a 12 year old girl says she was abducted from King Street in Belize City and drugged, raped, and then sodomized at a house in the Jane Usher Boulevard area. Police requested that we don’t show you the face of the accused because a proper ID parade hasn’t been held as yet but we do have his name. He is 39 year old Vanzie Jervis Lamb who was today charged in court with rape and committing an unnatural crime.

The girl’s story is that on Saturday morning at 1:00 am, she was in a car with her cousin driving on King Street when they ran into a drain. She says her cousin went unconscious. That is when she says a man she came to know as Vanzie – described as a tall black man with dreads in a black t-shirt grabbed her and took her to a home on Jane Usher Boulevard. He allegedly tied her up and raped her and then gave her a pill to drink which made her pass out

She claims that when she woke up, she ran outside before dawn and found a good samaritan who took her to the police station where she made the formal police complaint. A doctor has certified that the girl was carnally known and that she had been sodomized. Vanzie lamb was denied bail and remanded to prison until June 19.

The matter of his ID parade is complicated because the child had to return south today to take the PSE.
