The results of an accumulated twenty-four samples which were sent from Belize
to CAREC in Trinidad for H1N1 testing are still not known tonight. Focal Point
Dr. Paul Edwards told us that they expect them to come in by tomorrow morning
at 8:00 and after a technical review, those results will be announced at a press
conference starting at 10:30 – which will be aired live on Channel 7.
So at this time, Belize has still shown no positive tests for the H1N1 virus,
but the results of 24 samples sent this week are still not known. And 24 is
also the number of countries that have now officially reported 2371 cases of
H1N1 infection and 42 deaths. It’s over a thousand in Mexico, including
eleven in Quintana Roo, and two of those in Chetumal. There are also four cases
reported in Costa Rica, and one in Guatemala. |
