Esso Tiger Mart on Freetown Road in Belize City – it’s one of the
most heavily trafficked and well – lit gas stations, but all that didn’t
matter last night to four brazen gunmen who held up three employees. Thirty
four year old John Diaz was the first gas attendant to get robbed. Diaz was
working when he was approached by a Creole man of medium height wearing a white
t–shirt and a dark pants. The man, who was holding a gun in his pants
pocket, demanded money and Diaz fearing for his life handed over a total of
two hundred and forty three dollars.
There was nothing that Diaz’s co workers could do to help because at
the same time they too were being robbed of cash. The other gas attendant to
be held up was twenty nine year old Dwight Jackson. Jackson had a black gun
placed to his left side. The assailant identified as a slim built Creole man
wore a red peak cap, black undershirt and pants. He stole a total of four hundred
and fifty dollars from Jackson.
The other victim to be held up was nineteen year old Anthony Broaster who was
approached not by one but two men. One of the men described as wearing a white
undershirt grabbed Broaster’s gold chain with a chrome thirty eight revolver
medal from around his neck while the robber’s accomplice searched Broaster’s
pocket and took seven hundred dollars in cash.
Although we understand the entire hold-up and robbery was captured by security
cameras Belize City police have yet to make an arrest. The total amount stolen
was two thousand five hundred and ninety three dollars. |
