But even before a lawsuit – the Ministry of Health is investigating
the allegations. Director of Health Services Michael Pitts commented on the
case at a Ministry of Health press conference this afternoon.
Dr. Michael Pitts, Director of Health Services
“In terms of the personal effect for that family, we need to give
them answers. Now they have made an allegation of gross negligence and we have
to investigate to see where this is, what are the facts and where we continue
the investigation as healthcare so we have to care. Now an allegation was made,
we will investigate to ascertain the facts and we will take the appropriate
steps at all levels, whether administrative, professional or etc.”
The family, with the assistance of the PSU President Jacqueline Willoughby
Sanchez secured arrangements to get a tiny box made and fly that and the mother
back to Punta Gorda tomorrow. But the post mortem that the hospital promised
would be performed today –was postponed until tomorrow. So now the family
is not sure when they’ll be able to put him to rest. |
