And in other legal news, government will now finally have a Solicitor
General to fight all those cases. Exactly one year after former Solicitor General
Tanya Herwanger resigned, her replacement has been named. Today Prime Minister
Dean Barrow confirmed that Oscar Ramjeet will take up office as the Solicitor
General on Monday June 15th. He is an attorney and journalist who has worked
across the region. He will fill the vacuum left by Herwanger who suddenly quit
on June 24th of 2008 – after only 5 months on the job. Barrow today welcomed
the replacement.
Hon. Dean Barrow,
“We’ve been able to secure the services of an experienced professional,
his career trajectory is quite distinguished and we expect that he will do very
well and we expect that the pressure on government in all sorts of ways will
with his appointment be greatly relieved.” |
