A cruise ship tourist accompanied by his wife and three friends taking in the sights and sounds of the old capital city today, got more than he bargained for.
Sometime around 11 this morning on Southern Foreshore just near the Magistrate's court, a man rode up on a bicycle from behind the group of unsuspecting tourists, and snatched the camera of 55 year old Koos Klijbroek, a Dutch national. Klijbroek yelled out for help, and two police officers who were in front of the Magistrate's court building, responded by setting chase after the culprit.
The unidentified man managed to elude the officers at the junction of Regent Street and the Supreme Court. Klijbroek said the Nikon Digital camera is valued at One Thousand Euros or just under Three thousand Belize dollars. A police report has been filed by Klijbroek, and the cops are said to be searching for the suspect.
