And while the effort to regulate tint is an anti-crime initiative, the University of Belize is also doing its part. It has organized a peaceful procession - which will give them a chance as students to voice their opinions on how they are being affected by crime and violence.
Today UB Senator of FST and Engineering, Shawn Pollard, stopped by our studios to tell us more.
Shawn Pollard, UB Student
"On Thursday 9am us the University of Belize student Government has taken on an initiative as young people and students to voice our opinions against the crime that is occurring presently in the country. Therefore we as students along with SJC sixth form, Wesley College junior college, Galen University nd other NGOs is asking for the support of students and anyone who wants to be a part of this procession and the rally which will be held at the end of the parade at the Battlefield Park to come on out and support us please because crime is something that is affecting everyone and it's about time for us students to stand up and voice our opinions about what is going on and try to come as one to make a solution to the matter."
"At firstly this march is just to show, it's just the first stand. We plan as students to put our heads together and come up with different ways and ideas how we could address the problem. We plan in the future to either have a forum, debate or even work with the minister and the government to try and fix this situation."
