An American college student visiting Belize on a cruise ship was busted by Tourism Police after he was found in possession of marijuana.
Twenty one year old Florida resident, William Moore, was fined One Thousand dollars today by Senior Magistrate Sharon Fraser after he pleaded guilty to possession of 2.9 grams of cannabis.
Magistrate Fraser ordered Moore to pay the fine forthwith, or in default serve one year in prison.
The incident occurred around 4:30 P.M. yesterday at the Tourism Village.
Police Constable Arana reported that he was on duty at the Village when he saw Moore running towards him while being pursued by another police officer. Arana said he stopped Moore, searched him, and found a black plastic bag containing cannabis in the left pocket of his shirt.
