Earlier we told you how one Blue Creek's family's quarantine ordeal may be coming to a quick end, but things won't go so smoothly for the other accused border jumper, Alfred Usher.
Since Monday, he's been complaining that his quarantine in Orange Walk was unfairly extended to 21 days. As we told you, the 56-year-old Belize City resident was picked up in Orange Walk Town by cops who say he had 4 cartons of Sunny cigarettes, which are contraband goods.
He was hoping to agitate the cops to speed up their process and charge him so that he could get out of quarantine, but 7News has since learned that he will most likely end up committed to the Belize Central Prison.
That's because he has an unpaid fine of $12,000, dating back to a conviction on August 9th, 2017 when he was caught with 40 cartons of contraband cigarettes.
We are informed that since he never paid that fine for that contraband conviction, a committal warrant has been activated for him to spend 3 years in jail, in default.
