Last night we told you about Elton Eligio, the police Corporal who over the weekend was arrested and charged for possession of a firearm without a license and whilst under the influence of alcohol, among other offenses. As we told you he spent an overnight on remand at the Central Prison.
But, tonight, he's out on bail.
This morning, his attorney Dickie Bradley got a special bail hearing before Justice Antoinette Moore in Belize City,.
Eligio was not in court for the bail application and was represented instead by his attorney Dickie Bradley. His relatives were able to secure property bail by 3:00 pm at which point they were able to retrieve him from the Belize Central Prison.
He must appear for his next court date on September 23, 2020 and he must also report to the Belmopan Police Station every Friday. He must also not interfere with any prosecution witnesses and he must not be arrested and charged with any other offenses whilst out on bail.
