And the mayor was undaunted as he took the podium today, despite 5 out of 6 of his councillors ganging up on him. But this rift in the council has affected the work that needs to be done in the twin towns and Trapp said it's because the councillors spend more time stalking him than actually working. He claimed they hover over him like a vulture circling its prey but added that he will ensure the towns' progression.
Earl Trapp, Mayor of San Ignacio/Santa Elena
"They, I will tell you, have been jumping around like chickens without heads. From day one since they assume office, they have been basically stalking me, which is illegal as well. I can tell you as what some people have said to a couple of them 'leave the mayor alone and go and look and mine your lady, mine your kids and stop mess with the mayor,' Because if they would find time in trying to find solutions to basically help their people as they have been proclaiming and stop preoccupying themselves witch hunting and stalking me, believe me this community could have been far ahead. Basically, we are at stagnation as well let them speak to the fact that everything is just envy and hate. We have projects in the pipeline over a year and a half. They are speaking to moving this project from here to there, why, because it wasn't a project initiated by them? If you notice all they have been doing is just passing around and basically photo shooting as if though they have been doing it. They have not been doing anything. I've been inviting them, but they fail to come up, yet they find time, they have the audacity to come and talk nonsense. You know what if they want to continue like this, we can continue the war for the next two and a half years, but I want to tell them, I want to make it abundantly clear, as a true leader I will move this community forward."
Mayor Trapp also explained that he is willing to work with the councilors and hope that they can eventually mend fences for the betterment of the residents they serve.

"I can tell you that my administrator can attest to it. We have been in and out of meetings. Most of the time my administrator is there. He has seen where they have been disingenuous. After they left, he comes to my office and said mayor, you know what mayor, I don't understand what these kids are trying to do. You have been trying, you have been bending over, you have been very much flexible, but they seem to have their own agenda. So, they have ulterior motive. If they can learn, to have that will in wanting to change and wanting to do better for this community then they need to come and let us unite and work together. That's the only way we can move this community forward."
