BDF Not Phased By Narco Cops
Mon, December 20, 2021
And while those Caye Caulker Cops had to wrestle with a drunkard, public perception still places many of their colleague's shoulder to shoulder with narcos.

It's certainly the perception that the Belize Coast Guard holds. As we've told you they've labeled the police department a drug trafficking organization.

But we wanted to know if that newfound weariness of the cops could be found across the board in the armed services and today when we caught up with outgoing Brigadier General Steven Ortega we put the question to him. Here's how he responded.

Reporter
"Sir, the coast guard has designated the Belize Defense Force as a drug trafficking organization. How does the BDF feel about that?"

Brigadier General Steven Ortega, Commander Belize Defense Force
"We always have to work together. So I would never classify any unit as anything negative because we have to continue this fight and we can only do it as a group."
