And another man is dead - this time, from a fatal traffic incident that took place last night around 6:00 on the George Price Highway. According to the police report, it seems the victim, Mario Rivera, swerved in front of a James Bus in a Chevy Tracker, causing his injuries. Today the police Communications Officer, ASP Fitzroy Yearwood, told us what the police know so far.
A.S.P., Fitzroy Yearwood, Director of Communications, B.P.D.
"Sometime around 6:10pm police responded to a scene between miles nineteen and twenty on the George Price Highway, where they saw a male identified as Mario Rivero trapped in a Chevy Tracker. Initial investigations reveal that Eric Williams, a James bus driver, was traveling towards Belize City when suddenly the white Tracker swerved into his lane. He tried to avoid hitting him, but at that time it was too late, and they made contact. Upon impact, they both ended up on the left side of the highway. This person was trapped in his vehicle for a little while and the Fire Department from Ladyville proceeded to that scene to assist the Police with the "Jaws of Life" (equipment), where they managed to remove him. At that time, he was transported to the KHMH where he was pronounced dead."
