| The house also today launched the Joint Select Committee of Women Parliamentarians in Belize. This new grouping brings together women who are members of both the House of Representatives and the Senate.
The committee will have membership of both parties and has as its expressed purpose the promotion of gender equality in Belize.
The committee will, quote, "work to address the unique challenges faced by women in Belize and to promote policies that promote gender
equality, women's empowerment, and social justice."
