At today's event, we also got to ask Tillett about the tourism sector's ongoing post-COVID recovery.
The rebound has been robust and growth consistent, but the industry has yet to eclipse the numbers witnessed in 2019.
With high season on the horizon, BTB Director Evan Tillett told us more about how they plan to advance within the next tourism season.
Evan Tillet, Director of Tourism
"I think that our key source market is obviously the US. There's a need for us to diversify it because it literally can expand the tourism season which would be good from an economic perspective for the entire country. And so our focus is, we were heavily focused on air lift, air lift development and we are also pushing marketing dollars not only in Europe but also in Central America Mexico and South America, we see potential here that can allow us to advance the tourism season."
"In terms of numbers we are looking at somewhere between 90-95% of where we were in 2019. From revenue perspective we are definitely up and that's because we have extended the length of in terms of visitors it went from 6.3 to around just about 9 days and obviously the ADR is significantly somewhere around 25% or so so obviously we would want to get back the numbers and we figure by 2024 we will be there and be beyond 2019 numbers which is excellent for us."
Overnight arrivals in August were up 7.3% over the same period last year. |
