And in other news….

Cemetery Road - which is one of the busiest in the city - is still in a deplorable state after the rains of 2023 - and tonight, City Hall and MIDH are putting the blame on each other.

The last time we asked the mayor who is responsible for its rehabilitation he pointed us in the direction of MIDH. When we put the question to the MIDH minister this morning, he sent us back to City Hall. Here's what the mayor said two weeks ago, and what Julius Espat had to say to him today.

Bernard Wagner, Mayor of Belize City
"Cemetery Road, it's a street in the city, but it really fall under the jurisdiction of the minister of infrastructure right."

Julius Espat, MIDH Minister
"That's an error. Cemetery Road does not fall under MIDH. That falls directly under the city council. And you should read the public roads act and that will determine who is responsible for what."

Reporter: "The last time we spoke to Mayor Bernard…"

Julius Espat, MIDH Minister
"Read the Public Roads act, and that will give you the answer."

We'll be passing that Public Roads Act back on to the Mayor.
