Crime Causes Cayo Business To Close Down
Fri, June 7, 2024
Last night we told you about the murder of a Santa Elena businessman - the proprietor of Allan's restaurant who was targeted by two robbers who ambushed him in front of his business.

We spoke to other business persons in that area and they told us about the climate of fear surrounding their businesses because of the number of crimes that have been happening in that area leading to the Hawkesworth bridge. They say that there's been a spike in crime ever since the bridge was closed for repairs back in April.

And tonight, one business named "Finders Keepers" in that same area has announced that it is closing down its Cayo branch on Monday, quote "until further notice due to increased robbery and safety concerns."

Observers tell us that there have been 12 armed robberies in San Ignacio and Santa Elena in the last 9 months - almost always pulled off by men on a motorcycle.
