He Killed A Vagrant But Magistrate Suspects Accused Is Mentally Ill
Mon, June 24, 2024
Almost two weeks after he was stabbed to death a block from his home in the Kings Park area, 33 year old bus conductor Asban Grant was charged with manslaughter for the fatal stabbing of retired US Army Soldier Griffith Cadle.

And while Cadle was known to roam the streets, it seems the man who killed him was a mental patient.

Grant was arraigned today and was read a single charge of manslaughter. No plea was taken from him.

But after the charge was read to him the magistrate became aware of Grant's disturbed mental condition. The sitting magistrate explained that a psychiatric evaluation would need to be conducted on Grant which would take about 6-8 weeks. And in order for that to be done, Grant was remanded again to the Belize Central prison until August 23rd. Grant was unrepresented in court.
