The state of emergency in Belize City, Cotton Tree and Roaring Creek is into its third day - and tonight police have put out posters for more than 40 wanted men.

We'll have more on that in a minute - but how long will the SOE last? The detainees are held without railer due process so the duration of their detention is consequential.

Yesterday you heard the Minister of Agriculture - who is from Orange Walk South - say that he supports a three month SOE. Today the Prime Minister also chimed in, and expressed his support for an SOE extension:

John Briceno, Prime Minister
"It's really a sad state of affairs when we have our young people behaving in such a lawless fashion. A small group to make that point. And certainly maybe we've done the 30 day and it cools them off for a little while and then they go back to the same kind of behavior so the recommendation from the commissioner and the minister of police they were the ones that recommended maybe we should consider extending the state of emergency in these areas for 90 days but at the same time we have quickly pointed out that it does not mean we that we are going to infringe the movement of our citizens our law abiding citizens have nothing to worry, their lives and their daily moves in and out remains the same. It's only the people that we believe that are out there creating havoc and creating trouble and even with the murders and shootings I think we need to get them off the street and hopefully with the 90 days it will allow them to calm down but for the same time for the police to do a proper investigation is to see who are these people creating all these problems in our society."
