Lighting The Path For Teacher Training
Mon, July 1, 2024
Today Pathlight Belize held a Teacher Training Conference in Belize City.

It showcased their commitment to improving the quality of education through comprehensive teacher training. Director of the Teacher Training Program Consuelo Godfrey told us more:

Consuelo Godfrey, Director, Teacher Training Program Pathlight Belize
"Every year Pathlight Belize has a teacher training conference. We normally have it the second week of July and this year our theme is Transforming teaching bridging the Pedagogy with Innovation so a lot of what we are doing with the high school teachers, primary and early childhood is look at different ways in which we can integrate their strategies effectively especially because the new curriculum request for competency base. In addition to that specifically for the high school, we are looking at infusing the stem aspect to all the different high school subjects."

Sherelee Mckenzie, St. Martins de Porres Primary school Infant 1
"It has been very informative, engaging and a little refresher for me. I've learnt different strategies and methods to take back to the classroom to engage students in playful learning so they'll learn what while they play."

Emil Pulido, Our Lady of Guadalupe Roman Catholic High School Belmopan
"We are further developing attitudes and skills in the seven macro competency areas. Now all of this might sound technical but it's about for example macro competency number 1 is about person character building. How do we teach knowledge skills and the affected domain as well? It's about attitude and skills."

The conference was supposed to be a two day training event but due to the weather the second day was postponed to July 29th.
