And in other news, yesterday you heard the frustrations of two of over 130 teachers who have gone at least three months without their salaries. These teachers say their names were inexplicably taken off the SmartStream service despite having their licenses. The BNTU called it an attack on the union.

But today the Ministry issued a press release clarifying the situation. They began by stating that they have submitted the names of 122 teachers for an off-cycle payment run to address their delayed salaries. The treasury department confirmed that these salaries should be deposited by tomorrow evening.

But that's only 122 out of over 130. MOE's release said that while BNTU provided a list of 99 teachers that claimed they had not been paid, upon review, the ministry found that 12 names were duplicates, leaving 87 cases to resolve. 44 of those are already included in the off cycle payment. As it relates to the remaining 43 teachers, 9 were found to have already received their September salaries, and 3 were secondary or tertiary level teachers, who are processed through a different system. 4 teachers of that remainder are being finalized for salary processing for the next payment cycle.

That now leaves 27 teachers from the BNTU list that require additional attention. The Ministry states that they are committed to working with the school managements to sort it out as soon as possible so that the salaries can be processed later this month.
