Shyne Says Timing Of Supplementary Appropriation Suspicious
Fri, October 18, 2024
The government today brought a supplementary appropriation bill for over 106 million dollars to the House. Several ministries will receive funds, including health, education, infrastructure, youth and sports, sustainable development, home affairs, and more.

Barrow told us that the timing seems suspicious, considering the rumors that an early election will be called in March.

Shyne Barrow, Leader of the Opposition
"We have a government that has demonstrated over and repeatedly that they have no plan. The Prime Minister talks about him teaching me or other people about business, this is worst type of business management that I have ever seen. We had a budget, how is it that you don't know that you're going to need another 50 million dollars, what are the emergencies. We go back in after this to hear him outline the emergencies but there are no emergencies that speaks to the tune of 106 million dollars so we believe, many of us believe this is election time money, elections, from what we understand is coming in March, and so this is just another example of why it is important to have an Auditor General that is functioning so that we can see how these monies are being spent, is it appropriate, is it abuse or not."

Last Thursday when we asked the PM if he would indeed call the elections in March, he did not confirm or deny.
