Aragon Breaks Ranks With Team Shyne
Mon, October 21, 2024
And so it is tonight, the Shyne Barrow led executive still holds onto the leadership of the party and controls the headquarters, the secretariat and the Leader of the Opposition seat.

But, his enemies within - and there are no shortage of those - are hoping that an increasing number of standard bearers will break with Barrow and erode his hold on the leadership.

One of them appeared to do so this evening. That's Orange Walk East's Elodio Aragon who's not come out with the Alliance for Democracy before, is speaking out tonight.

He wasn't at yesterday's convention but he wrote a long letter to Barrow today saying that his executive, quote, "has driven our party into this undesirable and serious predicament...It is sad to see that the executive has taken the ill-conceived stance to expel long-standing UDPs ...To even believe that by doing so we will fix the problem that has been created by the suspension of the party constitution is just mind boggling.

Aragon says the party has three choices and one of them is to, quote, "Ask the Party Leader to seriously consider to relinquish the leadership of the United Democratic Party."

He concludes,
The mere attendance of a majority of delegates this Sunday cannot be denied and is a telling tale of the fact that the leadership cannot continue as is." ENDS.
