Alleged Murderer Of Gang Boss' Son Set Free
Mon, October 21, 2024
22-year-old Kalief Raheem Alexander Caceres, one of two men charged with the 2021 murder of Gerald Tillett Jr., son of former George Street Gang leader Gerald "Shiny" Tillett Sr., was released from custody today after the DPP entered a nolle pros motion.

He appeared before Justice Derick Sylvester where his attorney, Norman Rodriguez, represented him. No reason was given for the withdrawal of the case. Despite his release, Caceres did not leave the court immediately. Authorities took extra precaution so as to prevent any retaliation. He was under heavy police escort and was taken into a waiting vehicle. Here's what he told our court reporter:

Caceres had been charged alongside Leroy Smith, who was just 17 at the time of the 2021 murder. Smith, alleged to be the gunman, was killed in August 2024 during a botched armed robbery at Cambranes Shop on Freetown Road.

Gerald Tillett Jr. was killed on May 6, 2021, as he rode his bicycle on Baghdad Street. Police surveillance footage reportedly linked Smith and Caceres to the crime, leading to their arrest. Tillett Jr.'s father was also shot and killed in April 2016 in Dangriga. Tillett Sr.'s brother, Sheldon "Pinky" Tillett, was also gunned down in 2012.
