Tonight a disturbing story is coming out of Belmopan. A 23 year old woman was reportedly kidnapped by her husband's family on October 15th and was just able to escape yesterday, after being held captive for eight days.

According to her police report, she was beaten and starved by her 24 year old husband, his 45 year old father - who is a Guatemalan pastor - and his 43 year old mother. She was reportedly also sexually assaulted by her father in law. She alleges as well that she was not allowed to shower or use the toilet.

Today the Commissioner of Police gave the details and added that the assailants are all in custody.

"The police received information that the the young lady on the 16th of this month went to visit her family. When she got there, she couldn't find her family. And upon returning home where her husband live, she was tied up and kept captive under a inside stairs. And she was tied up. She managed to escape from them last night."

"And she when the police encountered her, she has since made a report. And the person in custody is... the person in question is in police custody at this time."

"What all charges are he are they facing the offenders And was she pregnant?"

"I'm not sure she's pregnant, but the police are looking at the the entire case. And hopefully by the end of the day today we will know exactly what charges will be levied against those persons."

"Was she physically assaulted by both her or all three of them, her father in law, mother in law on her husband."

"All of them yes."

For what it is worth at this time, a family friend strongly denies the narrative that has gone out. We will keep following this story.
