A 31 year old mother of 2 is out on bail tonight after she pleaded not guilty to child neglect. The San Pedro resident - whose name we cannot disclose to protect her children - was detained by police on Tuesday of this week, after a neighbor called and reported that both of her children, two girls, ages 4 and 6 were wandering around on the street in the DFC area with no adult supervision.

She arrived at the location shortly after police did, and according to reports she smelled like alcohol. The mother was arrested and charged for child neglect and her daughters were placed in the care of human services. She appeared before the magistrates court this afternoon and was read a single charge of child neglect which she pleaded not guilty to and was offered bail in the sum of $1,000 plus one surety of the same amount which she met.
