Belize’s Greatest Female Vocalist of The 20th Century Passes

In terms of recorded output and global renown -Nadia Cattouse was likely the greatest Belizean female vocalist of the 20th century. With a distinctive voice and identity, she recorded some of the truly classic tunes in the Belizean songbook.

The 99 year old singer, actor and activist died in London today - four days from her hundredth birthday. Jomarie Lanza looked at her contribution:

Cattouse was the daughter of former Deputy Prime Minister Albert Cattouse and Kathleen Fairweather. She was also first cousin to legendary record producer Compton Fairweather.
