Eglah's Training Center handed over 25 Christmas baskets today to families in need within the southside. The baskets were put together thanks to a number of donations, ranging from food and household items to toiletries. We spoke with the coordinator who says that this is an annual tradition that they look forward to:
Juanita Baton, Teacher, Eglah'sTraining Center
"This is one of our annual projects that we do every year here at Eglahs we ask the business communities to assist and other friends and organizations so we get donations and then the schools we contact the schools and principals of primary and secondary schools and they identify the parents from their school and they give us the list and that's how we try to get the list. We are grateful and happy to help them, this has been an initiative for many years I would say more than ten years here at Eglahs training center."
"Today we distributed 25 Christmas baskets to different families from the 5 different schools three primary schools and two high schools here especially on the south side community."
"We believe here at Eglahs because this is a center that caters, we give literacy and life skills to adults and youths and even school children, students from primary and secondary schools. So we believe that families play an important role in the community so if we help families we know that the students and stakeholders of the family will benefit. So it's very important for us to collaborate and work together as one family."
