So, Chang plans to run against the UDP leader Shyne Barrow - so what would the ballots look like in that constituency?
Shyne Barrow for the UDP, versus Lee Mark Chang for the UDP versus :Lawrence Ellis for the PUP.
Now, the ballot has no party name declared, just the colors: red for the UDP, blue for the PUP. So which UDP should get the red? Well, that will be a matter for great debate and probably court action - but Panton today suggested that neither of them should get it:
Tracy Panton, Leader TPUDP
"And since Shyne continues to refuse to accept the will of the delegates of The United Democratic Party and because the matter of leadership remains to be settled by the court we have instructed our attorneys to write to the election and boundaries commission alerting them to the fact that the matter of leadership and control of the UDP is before the court and therefore subjugate in this instance we believe that it will not be prudent or even an interference of the court process at the commission will assign the traditional colour of red to any of the disputing groups until a decision of the court is forthcoming. This would ensure that no person or group of persons can claim the colour red unless there is a pronouncement by the court."
