We Can Tell You When Elections Won't Be Called |

If staffers in this newsroom had a dollar for every time someone told us that elections would call on such and such date - well, we could probably afford to present the news commercial free. Right now - there's a fever pitch of election speculation and everyone seems to know the date and when the date will be announced.
But we surely don't know - and the only thing we do know is when it won't be announced. That's Friday February 7th - at the house meeting.
We learned this in a lawyer's letter responding to that Trinidadian attorney we told you about - Anand Ramlogan. He threatened to file an injunction against the government to prevent it from announcing the date of election at Friday's house meeting. Well, Eamon Courtenay, the private attorney retained to represent the Attorney General, has written to Ramlogan saying, "you requested clarification and confirmation whether the Prime Minister intends to announce the date for the general election at the next sitting of Parliament. We are instructed to confirm that the Prime Minister will not be announcing the date for the next general election at its next sitting on 7th February 2025 nor will he advise the Governor General to dissolve Parliament on the said date." End quote.
So, if not Friday, when? Well, your guess is as good as ours.
