And while society is shoring up the family with support, they are dealing with a whole lot right now. Burying any family member - especially a child - is very difficult - and now, to complicate matters even further, there's a custody dispute over who gets the right to conduct the funeral.
Pablo's father told us today that he finds himself still caught in a dispute for custody of his son's body. Orellano claims that he was the sole provider for his son since August of last year.
But now he claims Pablo's mother has possession of the paperwork that he needs to bury his baby. He expressed his frustration:

"I had to go to do the autopsy, witness and identify my son. I was the one that did all of that. I identified my little boy. I went through the process and when I was finished they got my statement and everything and the police told me the original paper will be going to the station and they will give me a copy and the original will go to vital and there I will pick it up. And now this morning when I went to get the copy the police officer told me I will get the copy and the original will go to vital and now I am here at vital to register my son death and now I am seeing that my wife who abandoned me is now, she has the original paper"
"The baby was with me from last year August, the baby was with me and she didn't have any contact with the baby. She didn't even try and she just lives two streets from me. She doesn't ask me anything about my son."

"So you did not have written custody of your son?"

"No I didn't but the baby was with me and she abandoned me with the baby. She abandoned me and gave me my son."
"I think she is here now because it is hurting her now but that is not the point, the point is I am the one who suffered with my son. I was the one that did everything for him. I was the one with all the sleepless nights with him "
"We have gotten a lawyer now coming to try and help us because this cannot be taken away from me to bury my son because I was the one who was with him all the time."
"I feel bad, I feel bad she is trying to do this to me and she knows truly that I was the one with the baby. I really feel bad."
Minister of Education Francis Fonseca said today via text message,
"We have made it clear to both parents that we will assist with the funeral. We are not involved in any family issues..... We have not discussed compensation with the mother….our sole focus is on providing a decent, dignified burial for little Pablo - issues of compensation can be discussed later"
