You've been hearing about the missing firefighters' boots for some time now. The latest reports to our newsroom were that they were found in San Pedro.
Today on Sunup on 7, we asked the Minister in charge of the National Fire Service Andre Perez to clarify the situation. He says it's still under investigation but no one has been charged as yet.
Andre Perez, Minister of The Blue Economy & Disaster Risk Management
"I am getting informed, we found out that some boots went missing and are unaccounted for and I did speak to the chief, he is not aware of it but of course beyond that we requested that there must be an audit of all assets of the fire department. Yes, I've heard that story, remember it's all allegations that they were sent off the San Pedro, so that's the investigation going on. I do know that some are missing, I'm told the figure is that 20 boots are missing. And they're finding more because the allegation I think is about 60 or 70 boots. They're expensive boots. That's just one of the matters but certainly other things that we need to investigate."
