Though carnival is many months away, for the real revellers it's never too early to start prepping especially given that the Belize Carnival Road March is celebrating its 50th year. We asked the Minister of Education and Culture who also traditionally chairs the celebrations committee if they've already started to get ready - and he promised it's going to be bigger than last year:
Francis Fonseca, Minister of Education "Yeah that's a big big deal a big deal I had a meeting I think about a month or so ago with the carnival association, representatives of the carnival association where we discussed the 50th anniversary we think it is a wonderful opportunity for us to do something big this year along with the and the national celebrations commission so we want to make that a special focus for this years celebrations, 50 years of carnival and I think it is a very good opportunity for us to celebrate culture and celebrate the carnival association and the work they are doing and we are excited about that."
