And while Sabido says time is the critical factor now,
UDP Standard Bearer for Cayo North, Omar Figueroa is tonight asking for an urgent intervention before they do.
And he's calling out the elections and Boundaries commission for what he says are violations of the Constitution and Electoral Laws.
He claims that the design of the Cayo North ballot paper fails to sufficiently differentiate the political parties.
Figureoa is of the view that the unclear separation of colors will unfairly influence voter choices and distort election results.
He fired off a letter to the Chairman and Members of The Elections and Boundaries Commission today asking that they rectify the issue before election day.
He explained why:
Omar Figueroa, UDP Standard Bearer, Cayo North
"The concept of free and fair elections is fundamental to any meaningful and functioning democracy. In this regard I believe that the elections and boundaries commission has a constitutional duty to ensure that we have just that. The way the Cayo North Ballot is formatted raises some very serious concerns. We believe that it places undue burden on those voters who rely on colour coding to make informed decisions." |
