And while today's event was formal, last night in the Prime Minister's stronghold of Orange Walk Central - the mood was celebratory. Here's what our team captured on the ground as the Prime Minister elect delivered a speech with - again - strong words of caution to his new government:
Last night in Orange Walk Central even the air seemed blue in the downtown area where it was like a festival of blue as the sure to be victorious area representative and soon to be Prime Minister elect made his way through the crowd.
Briceno must have posed for a hundred selfies with constituents - and also had a greeting from one very prominent out of towner - who's always there for his victories, the Commissioner of Police.
A celebratory Prime Minister had thanks for everyone
But when he was announced victor in Central for the 8th time it became clear how focussed he is on dominance:
John Briceno, Prime Minister - Elect
"I am elated, I am quite excited. Two areas we felt in particular that could have come through Albert and Mesop, but we fell short."
And then unto his victory speech - which was done - PUP style - on a concert stage:
John Briceno, Prime Minister - Elect
"My fellow Belizeans, the people have spoken. They have roared and have thundered and I am deeply humbled by their historic decision."
"Today the confidence of the Belizean electorate is based on four years of actual performance of seeing and feeling the tangible difference that a people's united party has meant for our beloved Belize."
"To be re -elected is public confirmation of trust and confidence in your government. Tonight, the celebration can be abundant, but tomorrow, the work begins anew, because Plan Belize 2 .0, will require a renewed, relentless focus on policies and programs that impact the lives of our people."
But in his brief address, Briceno was quick to caution on the second term curse faced by both his predecessors: Prime Ministers Said Musa and Dean Barrow:
John Briceno, Prime Minister - Elect
"Second terms for both parties have in the recent past, come with rising challenges from within. Some political leaders and officials assume that re-election means they have more latitude to flaunt power, to lose humility. Let me declare tonight that I will not brook this erosion of trust and will act decisively to protect the confidence that the electorate has given us today."
"Our administration will therefore have less room for error than in our first term. I pledge to do everything possible to maintain stability, to protect the gains of our first term, to safeguard against hubris to ensure humility and to deliver our key manifesto promises."
It will not be easy to keep 26 representative in check - but tonight there was that abundant celebration - and even dancing Plus a hug for his granddaughter.
On this celebratory night, Briceno was a politician at his peak - leading his party to unprecedented, unmatched successes.
